A registered sex offender faces new lewdness charges after police say he pulled down the front of his pants and showed several children a diaper he was wearing.
Barton Jason Lewis Bagnes, 31, showed the diaper with an "Elmo-like" character to three 6-year-olds at a recreation center last week, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court.
The Salt Lake man said the children may have seen his diaper because his "fanny pack makes his shirt rise." Police said his shirt went to his thighs.
Bagnes, who has twice been convicted of lewdness involving a child, faces three counts of lewdness by a sex offender involving a child, a third-degree felony.
