A man has been charged with killing one dog and injuring another.

In charges filed Thursday in 3rd District Court, investigators said the man was watching the dogs at a Sandy home and injured the animals by "grabbing their necks and throwing them against the walls and floor."

In May, the man said one of the dogs died while en route to an animal hospital, according to the charges. A month later, the other dog was treated for a broken leg and internal bleeding, court documents state.

The man has been charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to an animal, a class A misdemeanor.
