FARMINGTON — If you want to send someone to retrieve books you have on hold at the Davis County Library, that person will need to have some specific information.

Tuesday, the county's library board updated a policy that now requires a library patron to know the titles of books or other media if checking them out for another person.

Previously, someone could walk into the library and ask for the books another patron had requested.

But the new policy requires power of attorney, a signed and notarized document less than 90 days old or the exact title names of the requested materials, said Davis Library director Chris Sanford.

The policy will gradually be phased in by Jan. 1, she said.

Library staff members will help patrons ease into the new policy through the end of the year, Sanford said.
