MIDVALE — A man police say is responsible for a hit-and-run accident earlier this week that injured two people has an extensive criminal history including multiple arrests for DUI.

Police say Neil Delynn Lewis' pickup truck hit two people on a sidewalk at State Street near 7100 South Tuesday about 6:30 p.m.

Kari Bushnell, 20, and Jamie Arbon, 19, were injured. Bushnell, who is reportedly pregnant, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery late Tuesday. Arbon was hospitalized in serious condition.

Detectives found Lewis' abandoned truck and later tracked him to his Sandy home.

Police Sgt. John Salazar said Lewis, 37, was not arrested. Charges are being screened.

In addition to four prior DUI arrests, according to police, court records showed Lewis' criminal history dates back to at least 1995.
