I love the Summer Olympics. Last night I cheered Ryan Lochte's gold medal win in the 200-meter backstroke. At the medal ceremony, Lochte's moment was cut short as NBC panned twice to show awkward shots of Michael Phelps being massaged.

Phelps is an Olympic phenomenon. I wish him continued success. However, having his massage take precedence was a classic example of the media driving the hype. In this case, it was tasteless.
