A Magna woman was hit by a car and killed while crossing state Road 201 early this morning.
Julia Allen, 45, was crossing the road near 8100 West about 4:45 a.m. when she was struck and killed almost instantly, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.
The driver of the vehicle that hit her said he did not see her until it was too late.
The speed limit on S.R. 201 is 60 mph and there are no crosswalks. Troopers were investigating Tuesday whether Allen was actually trying to cross the road for legitimate reasons or if this was a suicide, Roden said.
The driver that hit her was not expected to be cited, but Roden said an investigation was continuing Tuesday.
