Kenzie Harrison

KENZIE HARRISON, Davis, soccer: It's never an ideal thing to make your varsity soccer debut by filling in for your team's leading scorer.

But Davis freshman Kenzie Harrison has shined after taking on a much larger role when Collette Jepson went down with an injury before the season opener.

Harrison helped lead the Darts to a pair of victories last week, scoring three goals in two games against Woods Cross and Morgan. She is currently tied for second in 5A for goals scored.

LANCE PETERSON, Wayne, baseball: The Badgers opened the season with an impressive 6-0 record last week, and the play of this senior was a big reason why.

The Deseret News 1A baseball MVP a year ago, Peterson was instrumental on the mound and in the field in leading Wayne to an undefeated start to the season.

Last year Peterson had a 10-0 record and 49 strikeouts. During his junior season Peterson was also named a first-team all-state basketball player.
