Dear Heloise: In response to Preparing for Hurricane Season, please add this to your list: If you have to evacuate and have friends or family in another area or out of state, make sure they are aware of where you could be or if they might even have room for you.
My mom had to evacuate three times while living in Florida. Fortunately for her, my sister and brother both lived in areas where she was able to relocate with her pet, and knowing this made evacuation easier for her and on me, too, because I knew she and her pet both had a safe place to go. Planning ahead can give a little peace of mind in a high-stress situation for you and your family far away. Heloise
Dear Heloise: I read your article recommending getting organized. In addition to cleaning the refrigerator, freezer and medicine cabinets, one should organize important information (e.g., medical history, bills, passwords, doctors, attorneys, banking, insurance, investments, etc.) in the event of one's incapacitation or death.
Although no one likes to contemplate incapacitation or death, it is inevitable that someone will have to handle the affairs. C. Wakefield, Houston
Dear Heloise: I find it easier to shop at grocery stores that will "comp" prices from competitive stores. All you need is a newspaper ad with a price, and they will honor it. You can save on gas and time running around to various stores to get the best price.

Dear Heloise: This is a hint about recovering from an illness or injury. I find it easier to recover when I wear some pretty lounge pajamas instead of sweats. It is a gentle reminder that not only will you get your pj's ruined by cleaning the bathroom, you should be recuperating and not cleaning the house.

I'm with you, and I try to put on a little lipstick and perfume it makes me feel better. Heloise
Heloise: We have a monthly coffee group where the ladies on our island get together. This month, I am the host of the coffee group my theme is "A Heloise Coffee." Everyone has to submit a hint of her own that I will compile and distribute. I also have many of your hints that I plan to share. I'm looking forward to a lively discussion and many hints for future reference.

Dear Heloise: Whenever I visit the dentist for my checkup, I get a goody bag with toothpaste, dental floss and a new toothbrush. When I get home, I place it in my travel bag. I never arrive at my destination to find I have forgotten to pack the items I need to clean my teeth.
