CEDAR CITY — Football walk-on tryouts for students enrolling at Southern Utah University for the fall 2008 semester, will be held Monday at 3 p.m. (Walk-on tryouts will be held the first day of each semester).

Anyone interested in walk-on tryouts must be a current Southern Utah University student in order to tryout for the team.

In order to participate in the walk-on tryouts, the following requirements must be met:

• Prospective student-athletes must be currently enrolled at Southern Utah University in at least 12 credit hours.

• Prospective student-athletes must provide proof of current health insurance coverage (insurance card).

• Prospective student-athletes must provide proof of a physical exam within the last six months, signed by a licensed physician stating he is physically fit enough to participate in football.

• If the prospective student-athlete is a transfer from another NCAA institution, he must provide a copy of his release from the NCAA institution from which he has transferred.

The tryout will consist of speed and agility drills as well as some position-specific skill evaluation with Southern Utah's position coaches. The coaching staff will post the results of the tryout by noon, Aug. 26.

It is a good idea for prospective football student-athletes to set-up their schedules so they are finished with class and labs by 2:00 p.m. each day in order to fully participate in all team-related activities, should they earn their way onto the squad.
