WOMEN'S SOCCER: The 2008 BYU women's soccer team has been selected in a vote by Mountain West Conference coaches as the favorite to win the MWC championship in 2008.

The Cougars led the voting by winning seven of the eight first-place votes available, and 49 points overall. UNLV, the 2007 MWC champion, garnered one first-place vote and 39 points overall.

In 2007, BYU won the conference tournament championship and earned the conference's automatic bid the NCAA tournament.

The Cougars' Blue and White game will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, and admission is free. The first home game of the season against SEC power Georgia kicks off at 7 p.m. on Aug. 29.

Utah State

FOOTBALL: Utah State will hold its annual Aggie Football Family Fun Night on Saturday at Romney Stadium in conjunction with the USU football scrimmage. The event provides fans a chance to meet USU football players and coaches, participate in games and activities, as well as pickup season tickets.

USU football's scrimmage gets under way at 4 p.m., while the games and activities will also get underway on the South Concourse of Romney Stadium at 4 p.m. From approximately 6-7 p.m., fans can get their favorite Aggie autographs and play catch with an Aggie on the field. Admission is free.

Fans should enter Romney Stadium through the southwest entrance and to park in the west parking lot. Parking is also free.
