FIRST DOWN: The Utes practiced twice Wednesday, a day after their first scrimmage at Rice-Eccles Stadium. They'll have a single session this morning.
HEAD-TURNER: After the first session, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said quarterback Brian Johnson had another excellent practice. The senior, he added, is doing a great job as a leader and leading the offense. Kicker/punter Louie Sakoda and defensive back Justin Jones were also praised for strong showings.
INJURY REPORT: Senior Aaron Tonga, who is in the defensive tackle rotation, suffered a strained MCL in the scrimmage and will be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
