CEDAR CITY Two Utah fire departments will receive more than $650,000 in federal grants to hire full-time firefighters.
The office of Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, announced the grants from the U.S. Fire Administration. The Cedar City Fire Department will be able to hire five full-time firefighters through a $527,000 grant. Park City's Fire Service District will use $124,000 to train and certify 30 firefighters on rope, confined space, trench and structure collapse rescue efforts.
The U.S. Fire Administration is an arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
