MOAB — A woman convicted of strangling her 2 1/2-year-old daughter has been sentenced to serve up to 15 years in prison.

Wendy Bullock, 33, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to a second-degree felony charge of child abuse homicide in the death of her daughter back in January 2004. She has been housed at the Utah State Hospital ever since.

On Aug. 6, Bullock was sentenced in 7th District Court to serve 1-to-15 years in the Utah State Prison. Records show the judge expressed hope that her incarceration would be brief and that she would get support for her mental illness.

The toddler was found in the back seat of Bullock's car at an interstate pullout on I-70 near Thompson Springs.
