A father is fighting for his life after being thrown from his family's van during a crash Sunday evening.

Around 7 p.m., the man, believed to be in his early 30s, was ejected from the front passenger seat of the van when it collided with another car at the intersection of 12600 South and 3600 West and rolled several times, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Jason Johnson.

The man's wife and three children were not seriously hurt, police said. The driver of the other car was also uninjured.

Police and paramedics worked to stabilize the man for several minutes before flying him by helicopter to a nearby hospital, Johnson said.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation Sunday.
