The Greater Salt Lake Chapter of the American Red Cross — Help deliver relief to disaster victims and teach others to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Several volunteers are needed to become first-aid instructors for disaster action teams, for client outreach teams, for program services and for training and support services in leadership and supervisory roles. Utah Gardens — A youth garden steward is needed in the South Jordan garden. Stewards oversee a large garden that is run by fellow youths. All food is donated to the needy. Commitment is about eight hours a week. Also needed are garden-team members for the Bluffdale garden (adults only). Commitment is about three to five hours a week. All food is used in fundraising efforts.

Alzheimer's Association — The Salt Lake Memory Walk is looking for volunteers to help organize its Sept. 6 event. A variety of opportunities are available. Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer's Association Utah Chapter.

Golden Games — Volunteers are needed for Golden Games Senior Olympic Day, Friday, Sept. 5, at the South Towne Expo Center. Volunteers work 8 a.m. to noon, or 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arc of Utah — Volunteers needed for Give Your Heart Golf Tournament on Aug. 13 at Eaglewood Golf Course.

Annual Recovery Day — Fifty volunteers are needed to help with a Recovery Day event Sept. 20 at the Gallivan Utah Center. Events begins at 6:30 a.m. with set-up and 5K run.

KUED — Volunteers are needed to help stuff and label packets for the Caring for You parents resource guide. Volunteers would also make calls to conform address and do data entry.

Lincoln Elementary classroom volunteer — Volunteers are needed to assist in a fourth-grade classroom. Volunteers must be at least 18 and commit to 45 minutes to an hour once a week. Volunteers will help students with reading and math.

Jewish Family Services — Volunteers are needed to run a monthly book group for seniors in the Sugar House area. Art teachers are also needed to help seniors learn how to draw, use watercolors or acrylics.
