EnergySolutions Inc. says it hasn't had a serious accident in more than four years at its radioactive-waste dump in Utah's west desert.

The company announced it has gone three million man-hours with any of its 270 employees suffering a lost-time accident.

A lost-time accident is an injury that takes a worker off the job.

EnergySolutions says only 17 other U.S. companies can make the same safety claim.

EnergySolutions operates a dump 72 miles west of Salt Lake City for low-level radioactive waste — medical waste, contaminated soil and assorted debris from nuclear power plants and decommissioned defense depots.
