Too many Americans are afraid of change. They're afraid that America will no longer be America if its people or leaders aren't white, male or Christian. But these attributes are not what makes America; rather, it is the Constitution, a document that limits the power of government and grants rights to its citizens. If, in the future, our citizens are chiefly nonwhite, non-English-speaking and non-Christian, we will still be a great nation as long as we are a constitutional democracy. The Founding Fathers may have been religious, wealthy, English-speaking and white, but they did not write those attributes into the Constitution.
