Two Salt Lake men were each charged with a single count of felony arson in 3rd District Court Friday for allegedly torching the car of an acquaintance in Salt Lake County.
An investigation by the Salt Lake City Fire Department determined that the fire in the burned-up vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, had been fueled by an "incendiary" device, and traced it back to an Alamo Rental Car location at Salt Lake International Airport.
The two defendants were tracked down by police through the man who rented the car. They told officers they burned the car because they were "angry" with the man.
The estimated value of the car was approximately $23,000.
