Josh Smith's agent said Friday the restricted free-agent forward is considering a contract offer from the Memphis Grizzlies. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Smith averaged 17.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in helping Atlanta make the playoffs last season, his fourth after the Hawks drafted him out of high school in the first round in 2004. If Smith accepts the offer, the Hawks will have seven days to match it. The Grizzlies and the Hawks declined comment.
SMITH TEARS ACL: Philadelphia 76ers center Jason Smith tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during an NBA-approved camp in Las Vegas. Sixers president Ed Stefanski said there was no contact when Smith was hurt Wednesday. "It's unfortunate that this happened, but Jason is resilient and he'll receive the best treatment available," Stefanski said Friday.
