It is not difficult to see that we are in the middle of an energy crisis. As I have watched gas prices climb higher, I have naively thought that Congress is doing everything it can. It turns out Congress left Washington last week without even addressing the climate crisis. President Jimmy Carter believed the real problem was a "crisis of confidence," which threatened to "destroy the social and political fabric of America." I believe this is still true today. We need to show our confidence by doing the little things: bike to work, use compact fluorescent light bulbs in your home, recycle, write to a congressman. I believe we can solve our energy crisis.
