In 1981, President Reagan converted 65,000 government jobs from "merit" to "patronage." This allowed him to appoint political hacks to positions of leadership for which they were unqualified; positions that formerly required years of experience, expertise and competition. This conversion also precipitated the lobbyist explosion and billions of dollars of corporate welfare to cronies in the form of government contracts.

Our governor now wants to include the Utah Public Service in this unmitigated disaster. How long will the American people tolerate the graft, corruption and billions of dollars conveniently misplaced by our politicized civil service system?
