TOOELE — A wildfire burning in the Stansbury Mountains may be contained in the next 15 days or so, firefighters said this morning.

The Little Bald Mountain fire is about 80 percent contained at 558 acres.

"On the one end of the fire there's a really steep area so we're not going to have a line all the way around it," said Don Carpenter of the Great Basin Incident Management Team, which is fighting the fire. "We don't see a lot of risk of it going out of there."

Meanwhile, firefighters will be going around the lines they do have, mopping up hot spots. Crews will be moving out by Friday, transferring firefighting efforts back to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire has closed Box Elder, South Willow and North Willow canyons, as well as public campgrounds in the area.
