WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was found hiding on a roof and arrested after leading police on a chase through the city in a stolen car Wednesday night.

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper pulled the man over near 3500 South and Bangerter Highway about 9 p.m. for revoked registration, said trooper Cameron Roden.

The 38-year-old Salt Lake County man then took off, leading police on a chase. A brief time later, the man crashed the stolen 2000 BMW into a tree in a yard near 3100 South and 4440 West, Roden said.

The man then took off on foot.

Officers set up a containment area and used dogs to track the suspect. He was found around 9:49 p.m., hiding on a roof not far from where he crashed the car, Roden said.
