The nation's need for energy independence did not arise when Democrats regained control of Congress. Senate Republicans did nothing while they were in the majority to lift the drilling ban or move the nation toward energy independence. To blame the Democrats now for what the Republicans also failed to do appears disingenuous. We have had enough of partisan finger-pointing. Both of our Utah senators are good and honorable men, but Congress has failed America. On the real and urgent issues of energy, economy, illegal immigration, war and deficit spending, Congress has repeatedly failed to provide any remedy. To break the congressional logjam and get something done for America, we may have to blow out the old logs.
