The man accused of leaving his 2-year-old son in a hot car while he went to watch "The Dark Knight" has pleaded not guilty to a child abuse charge.
David James Farnham, 23, appeared in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court on Wednesday for a pre-trial conference. Court records show prosecutors requested a bond hearing alongside a pre-trial conference on Sept. 4, and the judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim in the case.
Farnham is charged with a class A misdemeanor child abuse, accused of leaving his son in a car parked at the Century 16 Theatres in South Salt Lake on July 20 while he caught a late show of the Batman movie. A jail report said Farnham left the windows rolled up "so the child would not be taken out." Moviegoers noticed the boy and called police.
The boy was later released to his mother.
