Bank personnel in the Wells Fargo branch at 405 S. Main got a scare just before closing time Friday.

A man placed a gym bag before a teller and asked if it could be delivered to a banker. Shortly after, he left the bank without further explanation to the tellers, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Melody Gray. Concerned, personnel phoned in a bomb threat to police and evacuated the building.

Police discovered that the bag was full of personal effects such as toothpaste and sheets of paper, Gray said. The man who left the bag has yet to be identified but was described by Gray as a Hispanic male of average build and around 30 years of age.
