Wilson Svedin's recent observation about the words "I" and "me" being misused (Readers' Forum, July 22) is the tip of the iceberg when it applies to our citizenry's ability to express themselves with complete, grammatically correct sentences.
Recently, I had the misfortune to listen to a Miley Cyrus interview on national television. She could not speak one sentence that did not include "you know" at least once.
She is not alone. Listen to professional athletes during interviews and count the number of times "ya know" is used. Many of these athletes occupied a seat in a college classroom for four years!
