It was bad enough to read in this morning's paper that our gas prices are higher than Las Vegas ("Vegas wins: Gas prices, are 15ยข below Utah's," Aug. 1), but then Lee Peacock, president of the Utah Petroleum Association, was quoted as saying he hasn't kept track of gas prices. That is about the most ignorant statement a person with half a brain in his position could make. He may as well have said, "Let them eat cake."

If Peacock and our representatives in Washington were as upset over the energy crisis as the public in general is, they would do something about it.
