OMAHA, Neb. Shane Loux became the Pacific Coast League's first 12-game winner of the season, as the Salt Lake Bees edged the Omaha Royals 5-4 on Wednesday night.
Loux (12-6) went seven innings and allowed just two runs on four hits and left the game with a 5-2 lead.
Omaha rallied for two runs in the eighth and had the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at first when relief pitcher Matt Wilhite picked off the runner at first, Angel Sanchez, to end the inning. Jason Bulger worked a scoreless ninth for his 13th save of the season.
Adam Pavkovich gave the Bees a 1-0 lead in the second with an RBI single and, after Omaha tied it in the bottom of the second, Kendry Morales singled in a run in the third to put Salt Lake ahead to stay.
Pavkovich led the Bees with two hits, including a home run, and two runs batted in, while Brandon Wood added a two-run blast in the sixth that gave Salt Lake a 5-1 lead. Former O-Royal Dee Brown chipped in two hits, as the Bees have now won six of their last seven games.
