Utah Backcountry Volunteers — One-week and three-day-weekend service trips to places like the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Dark Canyon, San Rafael Swell and other public lands are needed. Car camping and/or backpacking is available.

Ronald McDonald House — Weekend volunteers needed. Groups are needed to provide and prepare meals for 35 guests. Individuals needed for three-hour weekly shifts at the reception desk.

The Greater Salt Lake Chapter of the American Red Cross — Help deliver relief to disaster victims and teach others to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Several volunteers are needed to become first-aid instructors, for disaster action teams, for client outreach teams, for program services, and for training and support services in leadership and supervisory roles. Utah Gardens — A youth garden steward is needed for a South Jordan garden. The steward will oversee a large garden that is run by fellow youths. All food is donated to the needy. Commitment is about eight hours a week. Garden team members are needed for Bluffdale garden. Adults only. Commitment is about three to five hours a week. Team members grow food used in fundraising efforts.

Salt Lake County Healthy Aging — Healthy Aging Program is accepting volunteers to participate in a four-day facilitator training workshop. Facilitators team-teach at least two classes during the year. Classes meet once a week for six weeks. Volunteers will receive a stipend for teaching the courses.

Sandy Victim Assistance Program — The Sandy City Victim Assistance Program needs highly motivated volunteers who are interesting in working with law enforcement.

Alzheimer's Association — The Salt Lake Memory Walk is looking for volunteers to help organize a Sept. 6 event. A variety of opportunities are available. Proceeds benefit the Utah chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

The Children's Center — The Children's Center is offering a five-week caregiver education series for families with children newly diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. The center needs volunteers to help provide child care for families who attend. The children range in age from 8 months to 10 years, most around 3 to 4 years old.
