MIDVALE — A backyard barbecue sparked a house fire here that caused about $15,000 in damage Sunday.

Just before 3 p.m., flames from the grill went up the outside wall of a home, near 7800 South and Coolidge (90 West), said Battalion Chief Warren James of the Midvale Fire Department.

The fire spread into the attic but was knocked down quickly.

A number of antique furniture pieces were damaged by smoke and water. Officials estimated the damage at $15,000.
