A fire that destroyed a deserted restaurant above Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon continued to burn Saturday.

Crews fought the fire "pretty much all day," said Larry Lucas, spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service. The fire had burned more than 40 acres in terrain that made fighting it difficult.

"It's so steep that we can't get a line around it with ground crews," he said. "We're pretty much getting the hot spots around the edges and trying to slow it down. It's not moving real fast."

Crews were aided by helicopters, and were able to contain it to the east side of the falls and prevent it from going down the canyon. Lucas expected them to continue fighting it today but did not expect any road closures in the canyon.
