At least two of the four people arrested in connection with a shooting outside a Salt Lake City club early Saturday morning are airmen stationed at Hill Air Force Base, police said.
Two men and two women were arrested after the shooting of a 22-year-old man at 1:44 a.m. outside of Club Manhattan, 5 E. 400 South. The man was shot in the abdomen with a rifle and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
Police arrested Daniel Eugene Clemons, 19; Jeremy David Crist, 20; Tacota Monay Lemuel, 19; and Destinee Williams, 22. Clemons and Crist were booked into jail for investigation of attempted murder, discharge of a firearm and obstruction of justice, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Scott White.
Salt Lake Police Lt. Brian Purvis said Saturday afternoon that some but not all of the four people arrested are airmen stationed at Hill AFB. Purvis declined to identify which of the people in custody are enlisted in the military.
Calls seeking comment from Hill Air Force Base officials were not returned.
Police said the four drove from the scene onto I-15 shortly after the shooting, and along the way Clemons was dropped off to flee by foot. He was found in a gravel yard where police say he was planning to be picked up by the two women.
