Salt Lake City police are trying to return thousands of dollars of stolen goods.
Brent Edward Harding, 46, was booked into the Salt Lake County jail earlier this month for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 worth of merchandise.
Harding allegedly targeted businesses that sell tools or restaurant equipment and posed as an employee of the state of Utah, a construction company, or various Park City resorts, according to a statement from Salt Lake City police.
To sell the scheme, police said the man would "negotiate prices to try to seem more convincing" and use fake purchase orders to obtain valuable items.
Once the man had his hands on the property, he would pawn the equipment for cash, police said. The fraudulent transactions occurred between April and June of this year, the police statement said.
Anyone who may be a victim of one of Harding's thefts is encouraged to call Salt Lake City Police detective Cody Lougy at 801-799-3476.
