FOOTBALL: BYU junior quarterback Max Hall has been named to the 2008 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List. The watch list spotlights 31 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) quarterbacks who will vie for the award honoring the nation's best quarterback for the 2008 season.

Three former BYU quarterbacks have won the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback award, including Jim McMahon, Steve Young and Ty Detmer (two times). Current Miami Dolphins quarterback John Beck was the most recent Cougar named to the watch list.

The National Committee is asked to evaluate all candidates on their quarterback skills and athletic ability, academics, reputation as a team player, character, leadership and sportsmanship.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: BYU forward Katie Larkin contributed in each of four U.S. wins, including a 3-0 victory over Germany in the championship match of the Nordic Cup held in Borlange, Sweden, on July 21.

The U-23 team has faced Germany five times in the championship match, losing only once. This is the first time Larkin has participated in the Nordic Cup with the team, and she entered each game as a substitute. The U.S. team has now won 10 of the last 12 Nordic Cup Championships.
