CEDAR CITY (AP) — Heavy rains flooded several homes in the north part of Cedar City and left more than 2,500 people without power.

Most of the electricity has been restored, and homeowners are beginning to clean up.

The storm on Sunday hit particularly hard in Iron and Washington counties. Some homes had nearly a foot of water inside.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for portions of central, southern and southwest Utah. The flood watch went into effect at noon Monday and lasted through the evening.

The Weather Service says storm runoff could create particularly dangerous conditions along small streams, slot canyons and dry washes.
