Everyone is invited to a free "Peruvian Party Celebration" of Peru's independence day on Friday.
The first-of-its-kind event will be at the Garden Center Park, 1602 E. 2100 South from 3 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., followed by a dance until 1 a.m.
"This is a unique event designed to show the best that Peru has to offer its people, food, music and culture," said Francisco Farrey, an event organizer.
The festival celebrates Peru's July 28, 1821, declaration of independence from Spain and showcases Peru's three regions the Coast, the Andes, and the Amazon.
It will also raise money for the nonprofit Southern Cross Humanitarian, which provides basic needs for street children in Peru. The organization will be selling bikes for $30 to raise funds.
