FRESNO, Calif. Brandon Wood drove in three runs with two homers and a single to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 6-3 win Saturday over the Fresno Grizzlies in game two of a doubleheader.
The Bees needed the win to earn a split, as Fresno took the opener 4-3. Wood's first inning single gave Salt Lake a 2-0 lead and he added solo shots in the fifth and seventh innings.
Freddy Sandoval, Dee Brown and Matt Brown each drove in a run for the Bees.
Starting pitcher Kasey Olenberger pitched four scoreless innings, but Henry Bonilla (4-2) is credited with the win, depsite allowing two runs on three hits in one and one-third innings of work.
In game one, Victor Santos (5-3) tossed a seven inning complete game four-hitter, as he struck out four and walked two.
Nate Schierholtz drove in all four runs for the Grizzlies with an RBI single in the first and a three-run homer in the fifth.
Dustin Moseley (5-6) took the loss, as he allowed four runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and three walks.
Wood broke up Santos' bid for a shutout with a three-run homer in the seventh.
NOTES: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced Saturday that the club has activated infielder Kendry Morales from the disabled list and reassigned outfielder Coby Smith to Double-A Arkansas. Morales, 24, was placed on the disabled list on June 8 with a right oblique strain. He has appeared in 45 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .324 with 10 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI. He has appeared in one game for the Angels this season. Smith, 27, has appeared in 42 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .195 with three doubles and eight RBI. He hit .304 with five doubles, one home run and six RBI in 30 games for the Travelers this season.
