OGDEN Police followed a trail of blood to a suspected burglar after a home invasion went wrong.
Officers said it happened at 2:20 a.m. Friday at an apartment on the 800 block of Easy Street. Police said a 22-year-old man came to the home and began pounding on the door, demanding to speak to his ex-girlfriend.
"A man inside the apartment decided to answer the door with a steak knife," Ogden Police Lt. Scott Conley said. "Upon answering the door, the individual attacked him and began assaulting him."
Police said the man stabbed the intruder with the steak knife, cutting his left arm. The wound cut an artery and the man fled, bleeding severely.
"Officers followed the blood trail and found him half a block away, in a semi-conscious state, lying in the road," Conley said.
The man underwent surgery Friday at Ogden's McKay-Dee Hospital. Upon release, police said the man would be booked into jail on suspicion of burglary.
