Five people, including a year-old baby, were injured Friday afternoon at a Bear Lake beach when an Orem woman mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake of her truck, striking one person and backing over the other four.

The baby and a Springville woman were airlifted to Utah hospitals following the incident near St. Charles, Idaho, while another woman was being treated at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier. The other two victims, a man and woman, were treated and released. All five are Utahns, though police did not disclose their ages or their relationship to the baby.

Idaho state police did not have details regarding the condition of either of the two victims who required helicopter transport.

A statement released by police indicated that the driver was attempting to back under an awning on the beach when the accident occurred.
