Raser Technologies Inc. said Wednesday it has signed eight additional geothermal leases of nearly 6,000 acres in Utah and 1,200 acres in Nevada.

The leases with private land owners means the Provo-based company's holdings for its Thermo project near Beaver now total nearly 30,000 acres. The company is constructing a 10-megawatt Thermo No. 1 project on about 640 acres — the first commercial geothermal power plant in Utah in more than two decades.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
