Pupils from the Nkalane Junior Secondary School peep through a window Thursday as the school choir prepares for Nelson Mandela's birthday in Qunu, South Africa. Mandela helped raise funds so the school could build new classrooms and move out of a dilapidated mud structure. The former South African president used to visit often but comes less these days as his age catches up with him. The anti-apartheid icon will spend his 90th birthday today in Qunu with his family, and the whole village is celebrating.
