I got my Deseret News July 15, took it out of the plastic bag, and the first thing I saw extolled the societal phenomenon called "American Idol" mania. It's hard to believe, on the one hand, that this would be the lead story. And yet, on the other hand, this type of sensationalism has become the norm. I'm beginning to understand why the printed media are losing readership. I'm sorry, but this isn't news. The editors at the Deseret News need a reality check. We're on a disinformation slippery slope and we're being handed ice.
