The Deseret News Marathon/10K/5K Walk will be held on Thursday, July 24. The marathon starts at 5:30 a.m. at the top of Big Mountain above Emigration Canyon. The 10K start time is 6 a.m. at Research Park on Chipeta Way on the University of Utah campus.
The 5K "I am the Future" Walk begins at 7 a.m. at EnergySolutions Arena. The 10K will give wheelchair and handcycle medals to the top three males and top three females in each age category.
Register online at deseretnews.com/run through July 19. The marathon course officially closes at 11:30 a.m. This race is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Late registration and mandatory packet pickup will be July 22 from 4 to 9 p.m. and July 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at EnergySolutions Arena. There is no race-day registration.
Private vehicles are not allowed at the marathon start. Boarding of buses begins at 3:15 a.m. at two locations: Rice Eccles Stadium west parking lot, 1359 E. 500 South, and EnergySolutions Arena, 301 W. South Temple. The last bus leaves for the marathon at 3:45. There will be courtesy buses waiting at Liberty Park to return runners.
