Utah ranked third overall among states in a CNBC list of "America's Top States for Business."

The list, announced this week, was based on publicly available data on 40 different measures of competitiveness. Utah was behind top-ranked Texas and No. 2 Virginia.

Utah was ranked 10th for the cost of doing business, 10th for work force, third for economy, 46th for education, sixth for quality of life, 21st for technology and innovation, 32nd for transportation, 24th for cost of living, sixth for business friendliness, and 19th for access to capital.
