The governor's plan to force most state employees to work four 10-hour workdays doesn't make sense for many reasons. Plain and simple, it won't work for everyone. Single parents with children in day care, for instance.

Next are public transportation issues, Many who now ride the bus to and from work will be forced to drive four days a week.

Now let's talk about people who go to school in the evening, have second jobs, take care of elderly and sick family members.

What about telecommuting? I know of an agency where telecommuting has been taken away simply because management doesn't like it. That is very old-school thinking.

Our current governor and his directors have taken us off the electronic highway and put us back onto the dirt road.
