A chunk of I-80 has been shut down in Salt Lake City because of a wrecked semi that is perched precariously on some road barriers in the construction zone near 700 East.
The Utah Highway Patrol said the crash happened this morning when a semi headed east on I-80 attempted to move into the left lane.
"There was a car he didn't see and he pushed it into the wall," UHP trooper Cameron Roden said. "He tried to come back to the right and there was a car that had moved into the right lane. He hit that one."
The semi went into the barriers and is stuck there on the edge, the UHP said. Traffic is being diverted at 700 East while the accident is cleared up. The semi driver and a passenger in one of the cars were taken to St. Mark's Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
