A Salt Lake man has been charged with slashing another man's hand and arm with a machete July 4.

The 52-year-old attempted to run the man over with a truck near 1100 South and Navajo (1335 West) and then reached out of the driver's side door and cut the man's left hand and arm, according to charges filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court.

The victim was taken to LDS Hospital for reconstructive surgery.

Police found several knives inside the man's truck during a later search, according to court documents.
