As streets continue to close along I-80, frustrated drivers can find solace knowing it's a sign of progress.
Early Monday morning, crews hauled the second of seven bridges slated to be replaced along I-80 to 900 East. Officials are hoping the second structure can be in position by this evening, and once the bridge is set and shored, workers will begin the next move.
Also today, around 9 p.m., workers will close 700 East below the underpass. The street will remain closed until the bridge has settled, equipment has been removed and shoring placed, then two northbound and southbound lanes will open. The westbound offramp will remain open.
A path has opened for pedestrians below the interstate on Highland Drive, but no lanes are yet available for vehicles. 900 East will be closed until all seven bridges have been moved into position.
