The first six chapters of Passage of Promise: Last Wish by Tom Roulstone are so full of emotion and plot, the reader has to wonder if the remaining 24 will deliver the same excitement.

Roulstone wastes no time getting into the conflict-woven details of the novel set in the western United States the late 1800s. Within the first nine paragraphs, the details of the storys villain have been revealed. By page four, the protagonists wife has gone into labor, and by page five, the reader has been introduced to 10 characters.
